New Year’s is just around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to think about your next New Year’s resolution. Some of the most common resolutions is to exercising more, but we at Lancaster Nissan have created a list of creative ideas as well. Above all else, it’s important to set realistic goals.
According to Daring to Live Fully, one particularly effective resolution is to learn something new each day. That might sound like a daunting task, but you’d be surprised how often you learn new things as the day progresses. Maybe you’ll learn a new word one day, while on another you can pick up a new skill. Learning something new each day is the perfect challenge for most people.
Next, eat fewer calories. For those looking to lose weight, you should set a specific number, as you’re more likely to achieve a resolution with clear goals. Losing weight can vary from person to person, but one thing is constant: caloric output has to be more than input to lose weight. We suggest a graduated scale (cut back 50 calories, then 100, then 200, etc.) as a way to start your weight-loss adventure.
Finally, read more books. For example, try reading 10 classic works of American fiction or the 5 best detective novels of the twentieth century. If you prefer poetry, try to work your way through a movement or group, like the Beat or Black Mountain poets. Not into fiction or poetry? Try history or memoirs. You can easily customize this resolution to fit your tastes, but be sure to set specific goals.
Looking for other resolutions? Try writing a business plan, organizing your documents, hiking once a week, starting meditation, keeping a journal, or travelling more. You can’t go wrong with most of these resolutions.
