Lancaster County is best known for its huge Amish population, but there are a lot of things to do here besides buy cheese in Amish Country (not that Amish Country cheese isn’t worth the trip). Whether you live here or you’re planning to visit, check out these fun things to do in Lancaster.
The American Music Theater is a wonderful place to go when you’re in the area. This year, you can catch the American Music Theater Crooners Show, in which singers perform hits from iconic crooners. The Fulton Theater is another interesting spot to visit—restored from the 1800s, it hosts a variety of performances, including dance troupes.
If you have kids, you have to spend some time at Dutch Wonderland, a family amusement park, or the Caribbean Indoor Water Park. Then there’s Central Market, the best place around to buy food—the produce is super fresh and everything is grown naturally. A market may not seem like a tourist stop, but visitors and residents alike can spend whole days eating their way through the place.
And if you’re interested, take some time to learn about the Mennonite culture at the Mennonite Information Center and the Amish Farm and House Tour.
