Ice cream season has finally arrived, and if you’re anywhere near as big a fan of the stuff as we are here at Lancaster Nissan, you’ve probably sampled (and/or binged at) every ice cream shop, parlor, or truck in your hometown. There’s nothing wrong with the tried-and-true; everyone has their favorite ice cream spots. But, if you’re in the mood for something shiny and new, consider taking our “ice cream road trip” across Pennsylvania this weekend.
- Franklin Fountain — Philadelphia
As rich in history as its ice cream is in flavor, the Franklin Fountain is an old-timey ice cream parlor with dozens of flavors, bowtie-clad staff, and a beautiful location in the heart of the Old City neighborhood of Philly. Head’s up: they’re cash only.
- Lewisburg Freez — Lewisburg
This might appear to be a simple roadside ice cream shop, but there’s something undeniably special about the simple soft serve cones coming out of the Lewisburg Freez.
- Eder’s Ice Cream — Montoursville
When a business has been booming since 1927, you know it has to be good. Eder’s whips up some of the tastiest ice cream concoctions you’ll ever have the pleasure of tasting. This one might just become your new favorite ice cream parlor — don’t skip it!
- La Michoacana Homemade Ice Cream — Kennett Square
Family-run and friendly, La Michoacana is destined to delight any customer with their down-to-earth handmade ice cream. Feeling adventurous? Ask for their classic sparkling of chili powder on your cone.
